In the book "Karate-do Taikan", written by Ryusyo Sakagami, there is an article in which it is written that Matsumura no Rohai was handed down in the Tomari area. Another book "Okinawa no Karate-do", written by Shoshin Nagamine states that it is unknown, who created this kata.
The explanations about Rohai in these two books have much in common.
The characteristics of this kata are as follows:
- Body-turn techniques after twisting the opponent's arm.
- Nekoashi-dachi from which we can initiate any other kick (this is called Kakushiashi-geri).
- Body spinning from Harai-ashi.
